One Acts Festival: Hallmarks of Horror
Directed by Ian, this comical play highlights all the ridiculous things one finds in horror movies. Full of Bad decisions, all-to-perfect families, and lots of high-pitched screams. This show kept the audience laughing.
One Acts Festival: The Diviners
Directed by Daci, this was a cutting of the full length play about a traumatized boy, his fear of water, and a former preacher.
Beauty and the Beast
This was a special full-circle moment because back in eighth grade, many of the seniors had performed the Jr. version of Beauty and the Beast. With a cast of almost 70, this rendition was even more grand than the last time we performed it.
Best Chirstmas Pagenat Ever
The classic returned, this time with Sydney completing her BCP bucket list by finally playing mom. Always a fun time, this was a particularly memorable version.
CATS
Cats was Kai's first-ever show at MYO, and it was so much fun to revisit this classic at the Cox Theatre in Plano. We have done this show three times now and each time it is fun to watch the evolution of the program.
The Play That Goes Wrong
When the rights because available for this show, we simply had to find a way to work it into the season. An absolutely hilarious show, it was one of the most technically challenging shows we have ever produced. It was a HUGE crowd favorite

Season 10

School House Rock Live!
This was full circle moment for Keelin, starting her senior year by reprising the first show she ever did with MYO. This was the first show with covid precautions and a great opening to season 10.
Little Women the Musical
A stunningly gorgeous musical based on the classic novel by Louisa May Alcott. This show featured an incredibly talented cast led by Kamarri as Jo.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
Covid protocols meant only siblings could touch and the two separate casts rehearsed and performed separately. This was definitely the most unique version of BCP we have ever produced.
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
The first play (other than BCP) that we have ever done just for the younger set. This fantastical tale came out beautifully.
Merrily We Roll Along
This rarely performed Sondheim show is incredibly challenging and brilliantly written. It is an experience like no other.
Descendants the Musical
MYO was one of the first groups in the area to premiere this musical and were the first group in the country to use Richard Frendt's digital projections.
Season 9

The Addams Family
A hilarious, yet also touching at the same time show centered around the plot of Wednesday growing up and getting married, this show was a favorite with both the performers and audience.
These Shining Lives
Performed after a one week workshop, this dramtic play about the women who worked at the radium dial factory was absolutely stunning. A true once in a lifetime experience.
Virtual Christmas Show
Covid precautions prevented most of the special projects we usually complete during the year, but we wanted to make sure the residents at nursing homes still had a way to experience the caroling, so we recorded songs in downtown McKinney and sent the link out so they could still enjoy some Christmas performances.
Matilda
Based on the Roald Dahl Novel of the same name, this show was a hit in the West End and on Broadway and was the opening show of our ninth season.
Firebringer Student Edition
MYO was the first group to license and perform this brand new student version of the Youtube cult hit
Really Rosie
With music by Carol King and a book by Maurice Sendak, this rarely done musical follows the adventures of Rosie and her friends on a summer day on in Brooklyn.
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
This year's version featured Alicia as Beth and Bailee as mom. It was particularly special because Sean revived his role as Dad for his senior year and it was Doug's 19th time to direct this show!
Urinetown
Yes, the title's awful, but the musical is great! Performed at the Cox playhouse with a live band, this darkly comedic show won the tony award for best musical in 2002
Frozen Jr.
This Disney hit was performed the first weekend in March right before things began shutting down for the Covid Crisis. A beautiful production and a huge success, the Saturday matinee holds the record for the largest single audience.

Quarantine Classes
As soon as we went on quarantine, we immediately sought out OnSTAGE members to teach classes. Each day there were at least three hours of classes.

Lion King Workshop with Stephen Carlile
One of the favorite quarantine activities and workshops was when we got to work with Stephen Carlile who currently plays Scar on broadway and in the live action movie. We learned warm up activities, sang for him, and got a change to ask questions.
It's The Distanced Life Music Video
We couldn't let the quarantine pass without making a parody music video. This parody to "It's a Hard Knock Life" was filmed individually at everyone's house and edited together.

MYO Tribute to Memorial Day
This show featured numerous patriotic songs, poems, a montage of chalk art designs, and the ASL class learned and performed the sign language for the song "American Tears."
You're a Good Man Charlie Brown
This show was cast before the quarantine started. We rehearsed the entire show virtually and then brought in the performers one at a time to record their scenes in front of a green screen. Several hundred hours of editing later, we had a final product put together despite never once rehearsing in person and no one ever being in the same place!
25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
This amazing cast had one rehearsal before the quarantine started. After rehearsing virtually for a couple of months, the cast decided to indefinitely postpone the production. The cast for this was incredible and we hope we can find some way to get them together on stage.
Season 8

This high energy dance musical was a huge challenge, but also so much fun to perform. It tells the story of the New York Newsboy strike and how a group of underdogs challenged a bully and won!

This musical full of stunning songs is one of the few Stephen Schwartz musicals that was never produced on broadway. It is loosely based on the book of genesis and examines the themes of growing up, letting go, and the things we do for those we love.

After he lost his battle in spring of 2018, the MYO families rallied together to hold a coffee shop night to raise funds for his family.
Sing for Your Supper Season 8
The theme for this year's dinner show was "The Golden Age of Broadway." It was nice to hear so many classic tunes of old Broadway.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever

Our second MYO Edge show of the season, this incredible cast of 8-12th graders did an amazing job bringing this rock musical based on the 80's cult classic movie to life.

Arguably the most famous dance musical of all time, this classic was brought to life using the all new high school edition script. The cast even mastered the original choreography for song "One."
Beauty and the Beast Jr.
We performed the full version of Beauty and the Beast in season 6. Since the elementary and middle school kids were almost exclusively relegated to the ensemble roles last year, we decided to let them do the Jr. Version this season. They did not disappoint!
Runaways
This show was written by Elizabeth Swados in the seventies and features the true stories of runaways living on the streets of New York. Harsh, uncensored, and groundbreaking on so many levels, this was one of the only shows on broadway to ever feature a cast exclusively of children and teens. It was also contains the first ever rap that was included in a broadway score.

The Fantasticks
The Fantasticks is the world's longest running musical. This tiny cast show was unlike any other show we had ever done. Dear Edwina Jr.
This musical follows the plight of Edwina Spoonapple, advice giver extraordinaire. Not only does this show contain wonderful messages about being yourself, it also teaches some really helpful things like the correct way to set a table. This was the first MYO production at the Church Street Auditorium.

We decided to offer an opportunity to learn some songs, short scenes, and dances and see what happened. Fourteen kids from Melissa decided they wanted to give it a try and MYO was officially up and running.
